LH and RH carbide insert tool holder set Overview
Carbide insert tooling has become the tooling of choice in most professional machine shops because it offers several advantages. They allow higher rates of metal removal because cutting speeds are higher. They are not sharpened, they are simply replaced when they become dull, saving time. They have more than one cutting surface, so when one surface gets chipped or dull, the insert is turned around and you have a new cutting face. Because only the small insert is replaced, they are cost effective. This set includes 3/8 shank holders that are offset 35° to the left and right. They take 55° inserts which offer a good combination of strength and the ability to get into corners. Each of the two holders comes with a carbide insert, and a special Torx screw to hold the insert in place. A Torx wrench to remove the screws is provided. Use of the holders requires the purchase of the P/N 7600 tool post which has a slot for 3/8 shank tools.
